About

I love bettering lives through writing, design, and photography and it just so happens I am able to gratefully call that an occupation.

I have a heartfelt need to solve problems creatively. I am a user-experience designer, familiar in user-interface design, with a strong background in graphic design, photography and digital marketing.

In 2009, I studied Design & Technology: Product Design in Jerudong International School. It was then I discovered graphic design, and it expanded my creative thinking. I became more curious to find out what makes design good and why it matters.

While studying at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), I was still uncertain if pursuing graphic design was the right field for me. However, as I was recommended by a handful of entrepreneurs to take up freelance jobs and the responses from clients were always positive, I then made a decision: The field of graphic design stood out to be the rational choice of profession. So, I began my professional career as a graphic designer in 2011, while juggling my life as an undergraduate.

In 2013, Conservation International Asia-Pacific in Singapore accepted me as a Communications and Design Intern for a semester. I gained valuable experience working outside of the country, which gave me much exposure to the working culture of the professional workplace and non-governmental sector.

In late 2014, I became a co-founder of Creativity180, a digital marketing start-up and agency. It was definitely a humbling experience, and I am grateful to have run a company alongside three passionate individuals for two and a half years. From small beginnings, we were able to work with international clients such as The Body Shop and Pepper Lunch, and regional ones, such as Paddington House of Pancakes and Guardian Pharmacy.

In 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from UBD, major in Art and Creative Technology, with a minor in Professional Communication & Media.

In 2016, I decided to expand my knowledge in design by taking a professional diploma in user-experience design (UX Designer Professional) at RED Academy, in Vancouver, Canada. In the program, I immersed myself in user-behaviour research, user-centric design approaches and methodologies, information architecture (IA), usability testing, prototyping, web and mobile user-interface design. I became familiar in relevant industry software, such as Sketch, InVision, Axure, and Omnigraffle. It was during this course, I found my calling. To me, I firmly believe that user-experience is the heart and soul of any type of business.

I enjoy the creative challenge and always strive to push myself to produce the best work possible. I love meeting new people and am easily captivated by real-life stories! I constantly make sure that my strong value for people is brought out in my work, aiming to make a positive impact on the people around me.

I am currently open to opportunities in seeking a new position outside of the country. If you are interested in hiring, you can check out my résumé. If you'd like to read my case studies, head over to my Medium!
